Two Natures
A believer has two natures: a sinful nature and spiritual nature. Both natures fight for the believer’s attention. It is at this point that many followers of Jesus Christ feel the confusion, tension, frustration, and even condemnation. Paul experienced this sinful nature, and wrestled with it, and helped us understand it more so that we can be equipped to deal with it (Romans 7:15-25).
To the believer who ignores this reality sets himself up for failure and frustration. In fact the believer is one who is bothered the most by this struggle because he is much more aware of it. I am also very much aware of this struggle. I am not exempted from it. The good news is God gave you and me Jesus Christ, our Savior, to free us from this slavery to sin and has freed us to live for His purposes (Romans 6).
To live in this freedom, you and I must live in the Spirit. What does living in the Spirit mean? You and I purposefully feed our spiritual nature, and at the same, starve our sinful nature (Galatians 5).
At Lighthouse we are learning to be Spirit-filled and led so that we can love God and serve people as Jesus did.
Join us this Saturday 7 p.m. (service in Spanish), Sunday morning, 10:30 (service in English), and Sunday 2 p.m. (service in Spanish) to worship our great God and listen to a message of hope, courage, and purpose.
We’re waiting for you.
